Supporting Students’ Mental Wellbeing

The Health and Wellbeing Team along with other support staff and partner organisations held a student mental health awareness raising launch event on 22nd March.

At this event the team showcased the new digital and paper-based resources they had developed for both staff and students.

They were able to develop the new resources because they were successful in securing over £170 K funding from the Office for Students as part of their Mental Health Challenge competition.

The purpose of the competition was to generate and test new approaches to improve mental health outcomes for students, working closely with students and partner organisations to cocreate the resources.

The partner organisations involved in the work included Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust, Student Minds, Coventry and Warwickshire Minds and Your Students Union.

The new resources will help staff in supporting and referring students who have mental health issues; plus, we also hope that the resources will encourage students to reach out for support.

It was a pleasure to see so many students take part in the event. We know that our students have struggled during Covid lockdowns. As a university we want to ensure that every student knows when to go for support and every staff member is equipped to listen and refer to the support available”

Donna Kendall Pro Vice Chancellor Student Journey

The feedback from staff, students and partner organisations has been incredibly supportive.

We are really pleased with the attendance of the event, from students, staff and our external partners. We understand that students may experience stress or anxiety during their time at university and that’s why we have a wealth of services available to support”

Jas Nagra, Head of Health and Wellbeing

All students who took part on the day received a £5 Sodexo voucher which they exchanged for a meal in the food court of the Hub.

The student booklet is available for collection from the Health and Wellbeing team or to collect from the library or Student Success Coaches.
